Don’t Trash Tuolumne Marketing Campaign

Green DOT Transportation Solutions collaborated with the Tuolumne County Department of Public Works to develop the “Don't Trash Tuolumne Cleanup and Encouragement Campaign.” Funded by a grant from the Caltrans Clean California Local Grant Program, this initiative aims to combat litter and promote community-wide environmental stewardship in Tuolumne County, a gateway to Yosemite National Park. To support outreach and engagement, Green DOT designed and launched a dedicated campaign website using Squarespace. The website served as a hub for campaign information, event details, and educational resources, ensuring easy access for residents and visitors alike. It also provided an interactive platform for community members to learn about proper waste disposal, sign up for cleanup events, and track progress in keeping Tuolumne County clean. Green DOT facilitated the campaign goal through organizing a countywide marketing campaign, hosting a mascot design competition for local K-12 schools, and coordinating community cleanup events to remove waste and debris. The mascot design competition engaged students in creating a symbol for the campaign, fostering a sense of ownership and responsibility among the youth. With an impressive 230 entries submitted, the competition showcased the community’s enthusiasm for the initiative. The winning design became central to the marketing efforts, appearing on educational materials and promotional items distributed throughout the county. In addition to these efforts, Green DOT developed educational resources to guide both residents and visitors on proper waste disposal practices, aiming to prevent future littering and illegal dumping. Community involvement was further encouraged through cleanup events, where participants not only removed existing litter but also contributed valuable data on current waste management challenges. This data collection is instrumental in identifying and addressing illegal dumping sites, aligning with the shared goal of keeping Tuolumne County clean, safe, and beautiful. Through these comprehensive strategies, the "Don't Trash Tuolumne Cleanup and Encouragement Campaign" strives to instill long-term environmentally conscious behaviors, ensuring the preservation of Tuolumne County's natural beauty for future generations.
