2025 Sierra Regional Transportation Plan

Green DOT assisted Sierra County Transportation Commission (SCTC) in developing the Regional Transportation Plan (RTP) update. This plan builds on the foundation of the 2020 RTP by incorporating updated data and addressing new priorities such as climate resilience, equity, and emerging technologies. The 2025 RTP update aligns with state and federal goals while addressing Sierra County’s unique rural context.

The plan identified roadway, bridge, transit, aviation, bicycle and pedestrian, and State Highway Operations and Protection Program (SHOPP) projects to improve the transportation system in Sierra County. The identified projects across all transportation modes require approximately $68 million in short-range improvements (0-10 years) and $298 million in long-range needs (11-20 years). Projects in this plan were positioned to meet the requirements of state and federal funding programs.
