A Regional Transportation Plan (RTP) is a long-range (20 year) planning document used to identify transportation infrastructure and program projects for a designated region. The last RTP for the region was developed in 2009/10 and regions are required to update their plans every 5 years to be eligible for certain funding resources. The planning process is more than merely listing highway and transit capital investments; it requires developing strategies for operating, managing, maintaining, and financing the area’s transportation system in such a way as to advance the area’s long term goals. The 2015 RTP development process explored ways to improve multi-modal opportunities for regional and inter-regional travel and maintain a strong commitment to traditional highway improvement projects. We conducted an extensive community outreach plan for the RTP update and engaged stakeholders through Spring 2015. Green DOT Transportation Solutions was the primary consultant preparing the 2015 Glenn County RTP, which was adopted in October 2015.
